History:

The “Felice Romani” Musical Association has been actively promoting musical activities in collaboration with the Municipality, the Region, the Province and the Carige Foundation. Its contribution to the restoration and use of local architectural and artistic sites, through various musical and cultural projects (see the dedicated site www.feliceromani.it, “Realizzazioni” page) has been significant, especially in offering valuable cultural services in an area which is very interesting from a touristic point of view, yet far from the main towns and routes. Musically, Moneglia’s name is linked to that of its illustrious citizen Felice Romani, writer and poet, favored librettista of Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti, collaborator of many of the great musicians of his time, among which one can name Gioacchino Rossini, Simone Mayr, Saverio Mercadante, Giuseppe Verdi. His pen signed some of the most well-loved pieces of nineteenth-century opera, as well as poetry for refined camera lyrics on music by Glinka, Morlacchi, Bellini, Verdi…
Felice Romani, deeply enamored of Moneglia, spent the last years of his life immersed in the village's the peaceful atmosphere.
